Gina Fischli
B. 1989 Zürich, Switzerland. Lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland.
Gina Fischli received her MFA from the Royal Academy of Art, London in 2018 and her BFA from the University of Fine Arts Hamburg, Germany in 2015. Fischli’s works have been exhibited at institutions and galleries including: Chapter NY, New York; Soft Opening, London; Karma International, Zürich; the Swiss Institute Contemporary Art New York; Sandy Brown, Berlin; Neuer Essener Kunstverein, Essen; 303 Gallery, New York; Schaulager, Basel; Kunstmuseum Solothurn; Gabriele Senn Gallery, Vienna; Galerie Eva Presenhuber, Zurich, Geneva Biennale, Parc des Eaux-Vives, Geneva; Galerie Noah Klink, Berlin; Royal Academy, London; among others.
Gina Fischli’s work delves into themes of aspiration, desire, and the appeal of consumer objects. Drawing from her background in stage design, the Swiss artist merges traditional sculptural methods with unconventional production techniques, often incorpo- rating craft-based approaches and unexpected materials. She reimagines everyday subjects—such as household furniture, wine glasses, domestic animals, and birthday cakes—turning them into fantastical objects of desire. Infused with her signature playful irony, Fischli builds a world that is both mischievous and full of hidden intrigue.
